Astronaut Suit and Rocket
Space has always aroused curiosity and has been worthy of exploration for centuries. The Soviet Union's sending of its artificial satellite Sputnik 1 to Earth's orbit in 1957 and the Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin's making history as the first human in space in 1961 are considered important developments that added a new dimension to humanity's adventure with space.
Rocket is the name given to an engine that produces thrust depending on the combustion process, as in a jet engine, but does not require a forced air intake from the environment while doing this. All of the projectiles, missiles, space-air vehicles that produce thrust using a rocket engine and used for military or civilian purposes can be called rockets.
Great dangers await astronauts as the spacecraft moves towards space at an ever-increasing speed. One of these dangers is the increase in speed and the increase in the weight of astronauts as a result of acceleration. This special suit, which tightens the astronaut's body like a corset, serves to keep the blood in the body. Without this special suit, astronauts cannot walk in outer space, on the Moon, or on any planet. They cannot pass from one vehicle to another. Because there is no atmosphere in space, astronauts cannot even breathe. That's why they carry an oxygen tube in this suit that allows them to breathe. The outfit that an astronaut wears in space is as important as the rocket and capsule that take him to space.
Drone
The drone is one of the most widely and popularly used versions of the "unmanned aerial vehicle" models developed in recent years. Although they look like toys from the outside, multicopter designs contain highly advanced technology. Drones that are frequently encountered in daily life are small-scale multicopter models that are mainly produced for individual use. Individually-use drones are preferred for personal entertainment events thanks to their aerial imaging basic feature, and are also used for shooting professional movies, television series, documentaries and programs. Large-sized multicopter types, which have extremely wide usage areas, can also serve in fields such as energy, agriculture and transportation. It is also quite possible to use drones for first aid and cargo purposes in the future.
Experiment List
Wind Turbine
Wind energy has been used in many ways for centuries. A wind turbine is a mechanism that works with wind energy and produces electricity from wind energy. In other words, it is the system that first converts the kinetic energy in the wind into mechanical energy and then into electrical energy. In general, they have three wings and are mostly positioned in places such as mountains and hills where the force of the wind is high. Wind energy is one of the most inexhaustible energy types among renewable energy sources.
Stirling Engine
A Stirling engine is a machine that converts the energy generated by the external heating of a closed chamber into mechanical energy. Also known as a hot air engine. As the heated air expands and compresses, the engine starts to move. It was invented in 1816 by Scottish priest Reverent Robert Stirling. What they want is to convert the heat energy directly into motion energy. The fact that the energy used by the Stirling engine, unlike other internal combustion engines, does not depend on the type, has made these engines more promising for the future.
Wood, coal, petroleum products, natural gas, vegetable wastes, solar energy, nuclear energy, geothermal energy and many unnamed energy sources can be used in Stirling engines.
A Stirling engine operates by repeated heating and cooling of an insulated amount of working gas (usually air or gases such as helium, hydrogen). The Stirling engine is filled with a gas such as air, helium or hydrogen. This is called working gas. The gas inside the Stirling engine is heated. With the heat, the pressure inside the Stirling engine increases and as a result the piston moves. After that, the gas is cooled and the pressure drops. It is reheated and the cycle is thus repeated. When a real Stirling engine is running, this cycle happens very quickly, even at the same speed as an internal combustion engine. The working gas moves back and forth at high speed within the Stirling engine between the hot and cold sections, constantly gaining and losing heat; As a result, it produces power.
Tesla Coil
One of the most important inventions of Nicola Tesla, the first electricity inventor in history, the Tesla coil is a kind of discharge coil that aims to wirelessly transfer electrical power with an output with a high frequency low current density by increasing the electrical voltage. The voltages produced by the coil can go well above 1,000,000 volts. The Tesla coil is unique in that they create extremely strong electric fields.
When the high voltage transformer charges the capacitor, the coil starts to work. After the high frequency current obtained as a result of the oscillation, the wireless transmission of electricity takes place in the air. The capacitor performs the charge of the primary coil at thousands of volts. Under the influence of the magnetic field, the secondary coil, which is much finer, receives a charge. A spark is obtained as a result of polarization. Depending on the voltage values, the intensity of the sparks may increase or decrease.
Plasma Sphere
The plasma sphere was invented by Nikola Tesla as a result of his experiments in evacuated glass tubes to investigate the phenomenon of high voltage. The plasma sphere is a special low pressure glass sphere. When activated, the gas inside is electromagnetically excited and random radiations occur in colors determined by the gas mixture. A plasma sphere is a device that contains a low-pressure gas mixture and operates with a high frequency variable current. The small sphere in the middle acts as an electrode. When the device is started, plasma particles begin to be transmitted from the small sphere in the center to the inner surface of the outer glass sphere in the direction of electric field lines and in the form of colored radiations.
When we touch the sphere with our hands, single radiations occur from the small sphere in the center to the place where you touch the outer glass sphere, by affecting the high-frequency electric field. Thus, we draw the electric current towards ourselves like a lightning rod. This is because the glass acts as the dielectric inside the capacitor, manually forming the ionized gas.
Van de Graaff Generator
The Van de Graaff generator is an electrostatic generator for accumulating high voltage in a hollow sphere with the aid of a moving belt. It was invented in 1929 by the American physicist Robert Jemison Van de Graaff. When the charge is placed anywhere inside the conductor, it moves towards the outer surface and the field becomes zero inside the conductor. Taking advantage of this idea, Robert Van de Graaff built an accelerator in 1931 that boosted charged particles to their high kinetic energy.
The Van de Graaff generator is an electrostatic generator for accumulating static electricity and
high voltage in a hollow metal sphere with the help of a moving belt. When the generator is started,
the metal sphere is charged with the same (positive) electrical charges, and the person touching the
sphere is also charged with the same positive charges. Electric charges of the same sign repel each
other and want to get as far away from each other as possible. Thus, the hair strands of the person
touching the ball are separated by pushing each other and become airborne. It is a very interesting
and entertaining device for examining static electricity.
Theremin Musical Instrument
The theremin is a musical instrument played using magnetic waves that do not require contact when playing. This instrument, which has two metal antennas attached to its body, makes sound thanks to the antennas. By positioning his hand between two metal antennas, the musician begins to shape and volume the sound. The electrical signals between the two antennas are amplified by the theremin and directed to the speaker by the hand movements of the musician. In this respect, the coordination of the musician's hand movements is very important.
The theremin is one of the world's first electronic musical instruments and is often used in the soundtracks of science fiction and horror movies. The theremin is considered one of the most difficult musical instruments to learn, due to its sound and playing technique.
Floating Globe
It is made by taking advantage of the repulsion of the equal poles of two magnets. One of the two magnets placed at the bottom can stand on the other without touching anything under the influence of magnetic repulsion forces. The floating sphere can be suspended in the air thanks to the magnetic force. Maglev trains in use today are also based on this principle. Thanks to these magnets, the train travels at a height of 10 mm from the rails.
VR Glasses Area
VR glasses, known as virtual reality glasses, have been widely used in recent years. Virtual reality glasses are technological glasses designed to make the image more realistic thanks to optical illusions on the screen of phones, computers and many other devices produced with technologies such as LED, LCD, Plasma, which are common today. With Virtual Reality Glasses, while watching the movie, playing a game or watching a 3D movie on the television screen, the viewed image is perceived more realistically.
